The Power of Holy Week
Easter has always meant much to me, even as a small child. It was a time of upbeat music at church, a new dress and patent leather shoes, and a delicious meal with our extended family. But it has NEVER meant as much to me as it has since our son's death thirty years ago. Truly, I held on to life with the chorus, "Because He lives, I can face tomorrow." Now, attending a liturgical church that highlights the drama of the entire Holy Week through enacting the joy of Palm Sunday, bittersweet Maundy Thursday, the dark, painful Good Friday, the silence of Holy Saturday, and, with great anticipation, the celebration of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday. Walking through this week with our community of faith, has been phenomenally powerful. I hope you have such a community as well.
A Short Trip
Next week we will fly to Salt Lake City to see our grandchildren and, finally, meet our dear little Great-Granddaughter, Faye. Needless to say, I am excited!
