Cross-Cultural Preparation
As an Intercultural Trainer since 1990, Dianne Collard has trained hundreds of people for both short-term and long-term cross-cultural service. She has been on the staff of the Center for Intercultural Training (C.I.T.) in Union Mills, NC since 2005. She teaches in the pre-field training course, Equipping for Life and Ministry. C.I.T. provides pre-field training and Bible intensives for missionary appointees from various mission agencies who are headed to countries around the world.
Dianne offers pre-field training for church short-term mission teams called Threshold. This training will assist your church in fielding effective, productive mission teams. Combining the pre-field preparation of Threshold with the after-care of Reflect will assist each team member to internalize the personal growth that comes from a cross-cultural experience and excite them for future service. Dianne is extremely qualified to offer your short-term teams a valuable pre-mission trip preparation experience.
Dianne has a B.A. in Speech-Communication, with an emphasis in Cross-Cultural Communication from San Francisco State University; an M.A. in Intercultural Studies; and her doctorate is a Doctor of Missiology (Missiology is a combination of Theology, Anthropology and Church History). Her grad work was taken at the Cook School of Intercultural Studies at Biola University. She has served in missions since 1986 and lived internationally for fifteen years. Much of her work on the mission field was focused on the pre-field preparation and on-field adjustment of missionaries and other expatriates. She knows the difference such adequate preparation can make in the effectiveness of a cross-cultural missionary effort!
